Brief info

Nikhil Kulkarni, originally from Miraj, Maharashtra, has been living in the US for last 20 years or so. Presently he live in San Jose, California.

Nikhil did his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from University of Pune and his Masters in Software Systems from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.

Then he moved to US and worked for various FORTUNE 500 corporations at various levels. Some of his clients include, Caterpillar, SunTrust, MetLife, Google, City and County of San Francisco to name a few. 

He completed his MBA from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 2013.  After that he moved into Management Consulting where he had an opportunity to work with various hospital chains and their leadership in the US. 

He was fascinated to see how the high ranking medical officers, doctors, surgeons and physicians are attracted towards ancient Indian medicines, yoga and other aspects of Indian culture.

He was stunned to see how Dr and professors from various universities in the US have started studying the Indian medicines and the overall way of life using the most advanced scientific tools and techniques.

And the results are outstanding. These Dr have started recommending these medicines through their research papers, books and even prescriptions.

Witnessing such vast support from western world towards the Indian medicine, yoga and life style, Nikhil’s decided to study and research Soorya Namaksara through scientific lenses. He started reading scholarly articles from various journals and publications about gratitude, breathing, meditation, health, psychology, physiology, anatomy, neurology and neuro plasticity. He also started reviewing scholarly writings on various life threatening diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Diabetes, Parkinson’s, Heart diseases etc.

Based upon his readings, he developed a curriculum in Soorya Namaskara. He delivered these course at various institutions in the US. 
So far he had a privilege of imparting his course to more than 300 participants from different age, race, genders, language, ethnicity and belief system.

He has generated more than 6000 USD from these sessions and seminars which he has generously donated to different charities and temples in the US.

The feedback from these participants has been phenomenal. Some of his participants have been able to quite their long standing addictions, including smoking and alcohol. Some others have adopted to healthy life style by changing eating habits and sleeping patterns.

It is indeed heartening to see when a close relative of one of his participants thank him for helping their loved ones get back into health.

This book is a culmination of his vast study and personal experiences. 
The very objective of this book is to create awareness about Soorya Namaskara and highlight various aspects of Soorya Namaskara through scientific lenses.. 

Nikhil strongly believes that change is temporary and the transformation is permanent. 

Nikhil believes in bringing transformation to people’s lives. And he believes that for any transformation, it is vital to understand and internalize the purpose of why we do certain thing and in a certain way.
In this book, instead of talking about the method or process of doing Soorya Namaskara, Nikhil has taken enormous efforts in elaborating the purpose of doing Soorya Namaskara.

He talks about every aspect starting from breathing patterns, positions and their transitions, entropy of the mind, scientific effects on the body, mind and life energy in a very subtle way. 
He also talks at length the importance of music and rhythm on the state of our mind. He has elaborated the importance of right brain on our overall level of happiness and well being. 

The meanings of different Soorya Names and their significance, as explained by Nikhil are  second to none. Nikhil has shown the  correlation between chanting of Soorya Names to maintaining gratitude journal as advocated by leading psychologist and neuroscientists across the world.
This book gives a completely new and scientific perspective towards Soorya Namaskara.

This book is unique in many ways and has a great potential to enrich the readers experience of performing Soorya Namaskara.
Recently Nikhil published an article series on this topic in one of the leading publication. And has been very successful in generating a substantial curiosity amongst readers of different ages, and expectations.
More to that Nikhil has highest regards for  Swami Vivekananda and his work.

He has decided to donate all the proceeds from this book to Vivekanand Kendra.

The sessions I attended were very helpful for life/physical fitness. I liked Nikhil Ji idea of doing something different and tricking the mind. Nikhil Ji is awesome in training the participants and ensuring everyone is engaged by giving some tasks to individuals like telling Chakra, Surya Names, Colors, and Asana Names.
